Cold Slush Cocktail Recipes to Warm Up any Occasion

Slush cocktail recipes are great for those summer parties and the host is looking for something different other than the regular drinks that are served. Slush drinks are also great to have at those parties where children will be because you can make special batches without the alcohol and the kids can feel like they are getting a special treat. Not only is this a treat for both the adults and children it helps to cool everyone down when the temperature begins to soar.

For those slush cocktail recipes that you are gathering together, check to see how long before the party the batches can be made. Since most of them will require freezing this is something that can be done days ahead of time. Having them made beforehand will also free up your time right before the party is due to begin so that you can complete more important tasks. This is a great relief for those who will also be preparing a lot of food.

When searching for slush cocktail recipes also note how much the recipe makes. If you will be having a party of 20 people and the recipe makes enough for 80 be warned. You do not want to be drinking the batch of slush drinks for the next week; measure ingredients accordingly to fit the size of your party.

One of the better-known slush cocktail recipes is the Pina Colada Slush.

Pina Colada Slush

1 bottle pina colada mix
2-3 cups ice cream
1 lg. can of pineapple juice
½ fifth of rum (do not add if you are making the non-alcoholic version)

Mix ingredients and pop in freezer. Can be served with Sprite or 7-Up or any other lemon-lime soda.

Another great adult slush drink is the Bourbon Slush. This is sure to be a favorite at your next party.

Bourbon Slush

1 12 oz can of frozen orange juice
1 6 oz can of frozen lemonade
1 ½ cup bourbon
2 c. water
5 c. water
2 c. sugar
4 tea bags
Sprite, 7-Up or lemon-lime soft drink

Mix together the first 5 ingredients on the list. Boil two cups of water and add tea bags and let steep for five minutes. Pour the tea into the juice mixture. Blend all together and then freeze. Serve partially thawed. Best results are obtained when the mixture is pulled from the freezer about ½ hr before serving. If desired, a lemon-lime drink can be added.

Slush cocktail recipes are a great way to break the summer heat and give your guests unique drinks that are cold and refreshing. Try experimenting with different flavors that can be added for a new twist on an old recipe.
