How much water to add to bourbon?

I've been drinking bourbon neat but have heard that water brings out flavor, how much water would I add to a shot of bourbon to make it bourbon with water?

As much as it takes so that the alcohol doesn't burn your tongue, and you can enjoy the taste and flavors.

Start with just a couple spoonfuls, then try it. Is it still too strong? Then add some more and try again. You can always add more, but you can't take out if you put in too much, so try a little at a time until it is at the point YOU enjoy it, not someone else.

People that are tasters, or that blend whiskeys, usually mix it half whiskey, half water.

This way you can really taste what is going on, without the alcohol burning your taste buds.

But try a little at a time, and see for yourself. Going over 50% water is not recommended.
